If you're a first time user of UWDOGS please complete 2 x Shampoos plus Conditioner on the first bath. The first shampoo works hard to lift built-up oil, dirt & grime, exfoliating dry, dead skin cells. Product activation during this first bath will be minimal due to all the grunt work. The second shampoo has all the bells and whistles foaming beautifully and rinsing with ease.

Moving forward you should only need 1 x Shampoo plus Conditioner per bath - dirt dependent!

It's also important to brush long-haired dogs PRE-BATH to help remove debris, knots & tangles. Best before the bath so knots don't turn into mats! And remember, warm water is a game changer no matter how you bath your dog, because shampoo activates to optimum viability in warm water.

If your dog is a little unsure of the bath tub or shower, think about a non-slip mat. Makes all the difference.

1. We start the bath process from the rear end... back feet first, up the legs, butt, back, moving forward. I find that by the time you've reached their head, they've usually lost interest in what's actually happening.

2. Wet your dog thoroughly with warm water. This means saturated, all the way to the skin! Be careful of ears if susceptible to infection. We encourage the use of soft cotton balls in each ear which helps catch the drips. *Please remember to remove cotton balls post-bath, to prevent bacterial growth.

3. Work the shampoo well into both skin & hair, especially those areas more prone to dryness, or areas prone to their favourite dog park poop. Use as much shampoo as required to help shift all built-up dirt and grime. DO NOT skimp on this first shampoo. Shampoo will be working hard to lift built-up grime.

4. Rinse well. We cannot stress this more. Regardless of our product being soap-free, shampoo is a cleansing agent and therefore needs to be removed. The second Shampoo will be a delight, silky and foamy. You'll only need half the amount of product this time, but follow the same method, massaging well into the skin. This is key for a deep, moisturising cleanse and to prepare the skin for hydration.

5. Rinse thoroughly & let them shake out excess water.

Our Conditioner is versatile and can be used as a Leave-in treatment (especially important for those requiring extra hydration & protection) OR, as a rinse out product (for those with normal skin). Start with a little, adding more as you go and massage well into both skin & hair. It will feel like silk, slippery and cooling. Get it everywhere, especially areas prone to dryness & itching. The underbelly is the perfect place to feel results instantly, soothing and nourishing.

7. Take your time. This first bath sets the stage. You’ll find the product feels great on your own hands too!

8. For long-haired dogs, always comb the conditioner through entire coat before rinsing. This ensures every hair strand has been coated thoroughly, locking in moisture and aiding in the removal of any hidden knots.

9. Rinsing: For normal skin and coats rinse product out, but please note that due to the product being a Leave-in Conditioner - it will not matter if you leave some of the product in. This helps those dogs who are time sensitive. For those dogs with sensitivities, we suggest leaving 50% of the product ON i.e., a gentle rinse from head to tail, down legs, chest and face. Leave on all areas of concern. *Leaving the product on the skin aids in hydration and skin protection.

10. Shake & pat dry. Try not to rub long-hair as this can cause matting. When towel dry, comb through the hair once again (like you would your own hair). Doing this while wet allows tangles you've missed to be combed out. No-Knots (spray detangler) helps here if required as this product may be used wet or dry.

After each bath, please use your Conditioner as a Leave-in product for at least three weeks. Conditioner is best used when your dog is wet (following a shampoo)... Start with a little and keep adding more product until their entire body is silky and slippery. Massage into all those areas that suffer from dryness or itch, or have hot spots and then a light rinse ONLY - leaving about 50% of the product ON, especially on areas most affected.

The Conditioner will be totally absorbed into the hair cuticle and upper epidermal layers of the skin, cooling and soothing, hydrating and protecting. You will notice a difference after the first bath, even their demeanour may soften, and they will smell and feel different.

Please Note* Your dog's skin and hair will continue to improve with each and every bath, so be consistent. The itching will start to subside as the skin enriches and strengthens. Do not give up.

Once your dog's skin is improving and the itch has subsided, begin to stretch out bath-times to when required. If your dog is comfortable and does not 'smell like dog,' then every 2-3 weeks (if they are inside dogs). If there is any scratching or licking in-between times, that means time for a bath!

If your dog suffers from allergies, red rashes, raw skin, hot spots, eczema, pimples or worse, we will encourage you to bath your dog first in our Puppy Shampoo and Conditioner which is the most mild of all Underwater Dogs shampoos.

It is important to remember that there is no magical 'quick fix' to skin that has been suffering in this way, and we ask for your patience with this process.

Follow the same procedure as above bathing once a week for three weeks. It will be very important for you to be consistent and to follow the bath-time procedure carefully.

It will also be important for you to note any and all changes seen, felt, or smelled as these are pointers to a change in your dog's skin and hair condition. Even your dog's demeanour before, during and after the bath is important to note. We see dog's physically relax in the bath, and chill in their new found skin rejuvenation as their skin cools and becomes re-hydrated.

Once you've finished the Puppy Shampoo 250ml it will be time to use the Sensitive Shampoo and Conditioner.

Feet only: Follow the shampoo process, rinse & towel dry. Apply conditioner all over paws, in-between toes & foot pads. Massage in well & leave product on. They will feel cool, soothed and moisturised. Use foot-baths whenever your dog starts to lick or chew their feet. Remember, product is concentrated so a little goes a long way.

It is always best to choose a sunny day to bath your dog, as post-bath zoomies help with the drying process. If weather is not on your side, keep warm until fully dry, especially if inside dogs. If you're a blow-dry friendly dog - no problems!

If your dog has been chewing their feet - FOOT-BATHS - are the best way to keep them allergen free, building skin health with each treatment to help aid in their recovery. Follow the shampoo process, rinse & towel dry. Apply conditioner all over paws, between toes & foot pads. Massage in well & leave product on.

Each time you bath your dog you will notice an improvement in the quality of their skin & hair. Less tangles, softness, shine and smelling delicious; so we encourage you to keep bath time frequent and consistent. I always say that if you can smell your dog... Or your dog starts to scratch incessantly... It's time for bath.
